Uni Background (feel free to edit or change any of this: I just work better with a full context in my head)

Sara Bellum University was formed in 1948 under the name of Institute for Expanded Education by a small group of philanthropists and academics who were dedicated to offering low cost education to Australians regardless of sex.

One of these philanthropists was a war widow by the name of Sara Florence Bellum, an extraordinary woman who had worked for 4 years as a plan manager during the war, only to, in her eyes, lose that position to a less experienced veteran after the end of hostilities. Mrs. Bellum bequeathed a large sum of monies earned from her husband's pension to the Institute and sat on it's board until her death in 1962, continually fighting for the rights of women to equal education. In 1965 the board of directors voted to change the name of the Institute to Sara Bellum University in her honour.

A Short History:
1948 - Institute founded in a small house in Capital City. 37 students matriculate that year, 19 of them women.

1951 - First students graduate. Matriculating class of 426.

1953 - Having outgrown the neighborhood originally founded in and having purchased all available properties surrounding it, the Institute, using funds from a number of sources, builds its first purpose-built facility, Clayton Hall, a Lecture Hall cum Residential Dormitory.

1957 - State Mining College incorporates into the Institute, expanding the Science and Technology courses available to the students. Matriculating class of 1583 (includes SMC students).

1965 - Name Change to Sara Bellum University.

1953-1970 - Capital Campus expands in size rapidly, incorporating many older buildings and raising 3 additional purpose-built facility.

1973 - Agriculture and Animal Husbandry campus opens in Sheperton. Matriculating class of 3350.

[FILLER TO BE ADDED LATER]

est 2006 - Purpose-built Information/Library Facility (yet to be named) opening on Ripon Campus.
